Josef Van Wissem, Dutch composer, lutenist and guitarist, will perform on the 13th of April, 2024 at 8.30 p.m. at the POLIN Museum to the legendary film adaptation of "The Fall of the House of Usher" (France 1928), made by Jean Epstein, born in Warsaw.
Wissem, who has been recording albums with Jim Jarmusch for years, a creator of film music (he wrote, among others, the soundtrack for the production "Only Lovers Left Alive"), decided to compose his own music to a silent film based on the "Gothic fairy tale" by Edgar Allan Poe. It will be an attempt to musically redefine film classics.
Poe's story is rich and extremely evocative, and the music will give this surreal vision a modern dimension: Wissem's musical minimalism will harmonize wonderfully with Epstein's imagination.
