The Polish Music Council Foundation invites you to the 13th International Festival of Improvised Music "Ad Libitum", which will take place on October 25-27, 2018 at the Ujazdowski Castle Center for Contemporary Art. The motto of this year's edition is "Women Alarm!".
The widespread belief that the world of music is created by men, that they write its story, change styles, discover new sounds, widen the range of possibilities of instruments, and make aesthetic revolutions, is being verified before our eyes. This is due to the outstanding women of the contemporary and improvised music scene. The 13th edition of the "Ad Libitum" festival will focus on the greate and often insufficiently appreciated ladies of the international music scene.
Among the invited guests – legendary pianist Irene Schweitzer, fascinating violinist and vocalist Iva Bittová, and phenomenal: Lauren Newton, Nicole Mitchell, Joëlle Léandre and Myra Melford. We will also hear artists of the younger generation, like Sophie Agnel. The festival workshop group, composed of the musicians of the Cracow Improvisers Orchestra of Paulina Owczarek especially for this edition of the festival, will be led by Charlotte Hug – violinist-performer and lecturer at the Hochschule der Künste, Zürich.
The festival is carried out thanks to the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, and the Capital City of Warsaw.
