The 9th edition of Fryderyk Chopin Birthday Concerts Festival "Chopin for Freedom" will take place between February 22 and March 1, 2018.
The longest Warsaw Fryderyk Chopin's birthday festival is a musical event accessible to the general public, which is a special celebration of the composer's work and an expression of joy and pride of having such an extraordinary figure as part of the Polish culture. Birthday Concerts are not just Chopin's music. It is also Chopin's inspirations, inspiration with Chopin and the joy of making music.
Among the performers there will be such Polish and foreign pianists as Lidia Grychtołówna, Takashi Yamamoto, Pamela Howland, Ivett Gyongyosi and Monica Rosca. We will also hear young Polish Chopinists, even younger virtuosos and chamber ensembles of the F. Chopin University of Music. During the evening concerts entitled "We play for Chopin" we will hear Alina Mleczko with her trio, Anna Jagielska-Riveiro and Turkish folk artist Erkan Dolunay. Referring to the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of Poland's independence, there will also be a series of concerts entitled "The Song of Freedom". The accompanying event will be a lecture and master class of Daniel De Clerc (Belgium).
The main stage of the festival will be held at the House of Music at Nowy Świat 63. Admission to the event is free, but the organisers invite everyone to support the festival.
