One artist – two professions: violinist and composer in one person. Mateusz Smoczyński will perform his 'Adam's Apple' Violin Concerto during the upcoming symphonic concerts with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Andrey Boreyko. What this piece was inspired by, what performance techniques were used by the composer and why did he wrote it for two violins? You will find out during the upcoming concerts.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of Zygmunt Krauze's composing debut. The composer often introduced rarely used instruments to his music, for example a piano out of tune in his Serenade. Krauze wrote that “it is an extremely simple composition, shamelessly easy to perceive, showing its message directly, without a mask. There is a waltz, there is a bit of nostalgia and a certain theme that runs through many of my works, constantly changing”.
In the finale of the concert, the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra will perform Igor Stravinsky's Symphony in Three Movements.
