
A concert on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Zygmunt Stojowski as part of the series "Jubilees of Polish composers in the Royal Łazienki Park" will be held on 23 August 2020 at 6.00 p.m. at the Palace on the Isle in the Royal Łazienki Park in Warsaw.
Tomasz Strahl (cello) and Agnieszka Przemyk-Bryła (piano) will perform works by Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Ludomir Różycki and Zygmunt Stojowski. The concert will be hosted by Maxymilian Bylicki.
8 April 2020 maked the 150th anniversary of the birth of Zygmunt Stojowski – a composer, pianist and pedagogue widely recognized outside Poland, especially in the United States, where he made his contribution to American music education. Stojowski taught at the Institute of Musical Art in New York, then at the Von Ende School of Music (now the University of the State of New York), and around 1918 he founded his own school. He organized festivals and master classes, gave concerts in many cities in the United States, Canada and the countries of South America. He founded the Polish Institute of Arts and Letters, the prototype of today's Polish Institute of Arts & Sciences. He was a student of Ignacy Jan Paderewski, with whom he remained in friendship for almost half a century.
