Warsaw | Concert to celebrate 15 years of Poland in the European Union
Radzimir Dębski (JIMEK) and Narodowa Orkiestra Symfoniczna Polskiego Radia w Katowicach join musical forces! An extraordinary concert "European Symphony" will take place on the 1st of May 2019 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Poland’s accession to the European Union.
The programme of "European Symphony" combines two musical worlds: classical and popular. We will listen to the Polonaise from the movie Pan Tadeusz composed by Wojciech Kilar, one of the most respected Polish composers in the world. His work, which refers to the tradition of Polish national dances, is a perfect bridge between the Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125 by Ludwig van Beethoven, ending with the Ode toJoy,and compositions by Radzimir Dębski, which combine hip-hop, jazz and film music elements.
The works will be performed by the Choir of the Grand Theatre – Polish National Opera and the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice under the direction of Łukasz Borowicz. The soloists will be Joanna Freszel (soprano), Agnieszka Rehlis (alt), Tadeusz Szlenkier (tenor) and Artur Janda (bass).
