On September 25-26, 2018 at the Art Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences (Warsaw, 28 Długa St.) will hold an academic session entitled "Phonography for music and science: history, relations, and present."
The event, held on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the invention of the phonograph, is organized by the Independent Academic Circle of Musicologists at the Main Board of the Association of Polish Musicians, the Sound Library Section of the Association of Polish Librarians and the Phonographic Collections of the Art Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
Papers will be delivered by such musicologists as prof. dr hab. Irena Poniatowska (Fryderyk Chopin National Institute), Dr. Weronika Grozdew-Kołacińska (deputy head of the Department of Musicology at the Polish Academy of Sciences), Jacek Jackowski (head of the IS PAN Phonographic Collection), dr Arleta Nawrocka-Wysocka (IS PANt), dr Katarzyna Janczewska- Sołomko (Association of Polish Musicians), Jan Popis (Main Board of the Association of Polish Musicians), dr Mariusz Pucia (Opole University), dr Kinga Strycharz-Bogacz (Catholic University of Lublin), dr Marcin Konik (NIFC), dr Małgorzata Polańska (DUX Recording Producers) and dr Mieczysław Kominek, president of the Polish Composers' Union.
During the session there will be a presentation of phonographs from the Jerzy Gogacz collection.
