After announcing the second edition of the project supporting the performance of Polish music, TUTTI.pl, the jury considered 169 applications. Since the TUTTI.pl funds pool has not been exhausted, PWM announces the second call for proposals under the second edition of this venture!
The jurors (Agnieszka Duczmal – representative of the artistic groups of Polish Radio, Dr. Iwona Lindstedt – representative of the musicological environment, Dr. Mieczysław Kominek – president of the Polish Composers' Union, Dr. Piotr Sułkowski – representative of the Board of the Polish Philharmonic Association, Dr. Daniel Cichy – Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Polish Music Publishers) decided that 120 applicants will receive co-financing under TUTTI.pl. Over 65% of the available funds were allocated for the performing and recording of Polish music in the season 2018/2019.
The ranking list includes such musicians as Agata Zubel, Elżbieta Sikora, Paweł Mykietyn, Aleksander Nowak, Zygmunt Krauze, Eugeniusz Knapik, Andrzej Kwieciński, Mikołaj Górecki, Marcel Chyrzyński and Paweł Łukaszewski, who will present four world premieres.
The list of compositions also consists of the works of 'classics' of Polish music: Witold Lutosławski, Wojciech Kilar, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Karol Szymanowski, Mieczysław Karłowicz, Ignacy Jan Paderewski and Stanisław Moniuszko. High scores were given to projects with less frequently performed works, such as Lutosławski's Cello concerto, Kilar's Missa pro pace, or Moniuszko Litanies of Ostra Brama. Grażyna Bacewicz's compositions have been chosen several times – we hope that the double jubilee in 2019 will be conducive to more frequent presentations of her works.
The greatest joy brings the selection of works that are very rarely performed. The National Philharmonic will present Capriccio on a Theme of Kreutzer by Stefan Poradowski, Mona Lisa Gioconda by Ludomir Różycki will be performed at the Świętokrzyska Philharmonic in Kielce, and Solemnis Coronationis Missa by Józef Elsner will be heard at the National Forum of Music in Wrocław. The Polish Radio Orchestra is preparing the entire package of recordings with lesser-known compositions, which will become available to a wider audience.
The second call for proposals will include projects with a deadline of 1 January – 31 August 2019. The rules of the competition remain unchanged: after completing and sending the required documents to PWM, the commission will perform substantive evaluation of formally correct applications. Institutions whose projects gain a scoring allowing for co-financing will receive a 70% rebate on the loan of materials for the selected works. The applications have to be submitted between 1 September - 1 October 2018.
