On the Holy Wednesday, 28 March 2018, the Krakow Opera invites you to the Chapel of St. Kinga in "Wieliczka Salt Mine" for a unique concert entitled "Ecce lignum crucis ... (Here is the tree of the cross)", which is part of the cycle "Song – Theater of the Word".
"In the output of Polish composers, we can find sacred works from the genre of song. Stanisław Moniuszko wrote the Piotrowińska Mass in B flat major, in which he used the organ, and provided each of its parts with a poetic text. We invited the outstanding organist Arkadiusz Bialica to perform this piece. In the unusual Chapel of St. Kinga, we will reflect on the adoration words "Here is the tree of the cross". A look at the song genre in the sacred aspect is something new and very important. I am delighted that we were able to devote one of the concerts to a religious song. Many of the presented songs will be heard for the first time, which is an additional value. Both the time and the subject matter of the presented works will allow us to look at our lives through a transcendental prism," says Katarzyna Oleś-Blacha, originator and artistic director of the project.
During the evening, we will also hear the sacred songs of Piotr Maszyński (Lord Jesus and flowers to the words of M. Konopnicka), Edward Pałłasz (Men's Mother Lament to the words of J. Kulmow), Witold Friemann (Prayer to the words of L. Staff) and Paweł Łukaszewski (Pie Jesu) . The soloists of the Krakow Opera: Katarzyna Oleś-Blacha, Monika Korybalska and Krzysztof Kozarek will perform along with Arkadiusz Bialic on the organ. The guest speaker will be Jacek Ozimkowski. The concert partner is the "Wieliczka" Salt Mine.
