The JAX Association together with the Marshal of the Podlaskie Voivodeship invite you to the 3rd Festival of Chamber and Organ Music "Kamedulskie Wigry". Festival concerts will be held on selected Sundays from 25 July to 18 September 2021 in the 17th-century Post-Camaldolese Monastery in Wigry.
Ahead of us is a journey into the world of various forms, musical styles and interesting acoustic effects. We will hear the solo organ, as well as the chords of the king of instruments with the violin, oboe or a rarely presented traditional bazuna – a Kashubian musical instrument. Among the performers there will be recognized artists who have been actively involved in cultural life for many year: Piotr Rojek, Gedymin Grubba, Paweł Gruba, Róża Lorenc, Wiktor Brzuchacz, Rafael Gabriel Przybyła, Dariusz Hajdukiewicz. The whole event will end with a performance of the Concert Orchestra of the Representative Artistic Ensemble of the Polish Army.
Music lovers will also be able to get to know the box organ. Currently, such instruments are truly unique – in Europe we can find only five of them, including one in Poland. It was made in imitation of Baroque instruments by the Johannes Kircher manufactory of Heidelbereg, and soon the organ will be heard in a post-Camaldolese temple.
The concert programme includes works from early baroque to 20th-century music. There will also be elaborate organ improvisations on well-known and liked melodies. This year's festival will be enriched by the promotion of Polish musical literature, which delights with its composition artistry, depth of expression and a variety of moods. A Polish accent will accompany each concert. We will hear music by Michał Kleofas Ogiński, Stanisław Moniuszko, Władysław Żeleński, Feliks Nowowiejski as well as songs from the Sapieżyński Album.
Admission to the concerts is free!
