Winners of the 13th Competition of 20th- and 21st-century Music for Young Performers

The jury of the 13th Competition of 20th- and 21st-century Music for Young Performers, organised by the Polish Society for Contemporary Music, announced the winners of this year's edition.

In the category of secondary music school students, three equal Prizes of PLN 2,700 each, divided in half between the laureates and their teachers, went to: Hanxiang Chen (cello), a student of Anna Banaś at the Complex of Silesian International Schools; Maciej Kasperek (flute), a student of Beata Kierzkowska at the Zenon Brzewski Secondary Music School in Warsaw; Kacper Puczko (saxophone), a student of Paweł Gusnar and Alicja Wołyńczyk-Raniszewska at the Zenon Brzewski Secondary Music School in Warsaw.

In the category of music academy students, three equal Prizes of PLN 5,000 each, divided between the laureates and their teachers, were awarded to: Łukasz Dyczko (saxophone), a student of Paweł Gusnar at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw; Tomasz Herisz (drums), a student of Wojciech Herzyk at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice; Jagoda Krzemińska (flute), a student of William Bennett at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

In the category of music academy students one Honorable mention of PLN 2,400, shared between the laureate and his teacher, was awarded to Wojciech Chałupka (saxophone), a student of Paweł Gusnar at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw.

The PWM Edition Prize for the best performance of a piece from the publisher's catalog – a voucher of PLN 500 for the purchase of PWM publications to be used in the online bookstore – went to Tomasz Herisz (drums), Tomasz Herisz (drums), a student of Wojciech Herzyk at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, for the performance of Bogusław Schaeffer's Constructions.
