Violinist Maria Sławek and pianist Piotr Sałajczyk will perform from May 8 to 10, 2025, in the Łódź Voivodeship as part of the National Institute of Music and Dance’s project "With Classics Across Poland". Admission is free!
The concerts will take place at the Library and Cultural Center in Dłutów, the Culture Center and Municipal Library in the Tomaszów Mazowiecki commune, and at the Łowicz Cultural Center.
Their interpretations will include Rhapsody on Moldavian Themes by Mieczysław Weinberg, as well as works by Johannes Brahms, Maurice Ravel, and Ernest Bloch.
Maria Sławek is the co-founder and current president of the Mieczysław Weinberg Institute. She is the only person in Poland to offer an original course titled “History of Jewish Music” as part of the Postgraduate Polish-Jewish Studies at the Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
Piotr Sałajczyk — a professor at the Academy of Music in Katowice — is also a member of the Weinberg Trio. His recording of Mieczysław Weinberg’s Piano Quintet, made with the Silesian Quartet, received the "Fryderyk" award in 2018. Since 2024, Sałajczyk has been a Bösendorfer artist.
