The world premiere of Jerzy Kornowicz’s work State of Things – Eight Years and Beyond. An audiovisual assemblage for instrumental ensemble, electronic media, and audiovisual projections to the films and photographs of Piotr Wójcik will take place at the “Komuna Warszawa” Theatre on December 12, 2025, at 7:00 p.m.
The piece expresses a passion for Poland and reflects what has happened in recent years in the realm of public life, captured in Piotr Wójcik’s films and photographs. Once again, the streets of Warsaw speak — women’s demonstrations, Independence Marches, scenes from the Sejm and Senate. The work revisits actions undertaken to defend the judiciary, the Constitutional Tribunal, and election campaigns. Yet the main protagonist of this musical spectacle is the Constitution — the set of principles upon which Poles agreed in order to live together. And the questions: to what extent are we capable of respecting those principles? And are we still a community? The work is a story of enthusiasm, doubt, and hope that there still exists a dimension — perhaps deeply human and uncodified — that unites us, members of Polish society, despite all our differences.
