On November 28, 2024, at 5:30 PM and 8:00 PM, at the Tarnowskie Góry Cultural Centre, the world premiere of Symphony of the Forest by Adam Wesołowski will be performed – the Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra will perform under the direction of the composer! The concert is part of the G. G. Gorczycki International Festival. Admission is free!
In this piece, sounds recorded in Polish forests blend with a live orchestra, creating a unique atmosphere. The score of the Symphony features sonic surprises: using the col legno technique and Morse code, the orchestra taps out the word "forest" in Polish and Latin. This extraordinary soundscape will be enhanced by visualizations that highlight the composition’s idea, which uniquely captures the beauty of wild nature.
The soloists will include world-renowned Polish artists: flutists Agata Kielar-Długosz and Łukasz Długosz. They will perform Winter from one of the most famous violin concertos of all time – Antonio Vivaldi's Four Seasons, as well as Silver Concerto by Wesołowski for 2 flutes, orchestra, and multimedia, taking us into the industrial landscape of Tarnowskie Góry. The piece was commissioned by the City of Tarnowskie Góry and the Tarnowskie Góry Lovers Association.
The concerts are part of a project financed by the European Union’s NextGenerationEU initiative.
