World Premiere of the Symphony Sarmatia by Sławomir Czarnecki

Information about the event | Kalisz | 13 June 2025

During the concert “Classical and Contemporary” on June 13, 2025, at 7:00 PM, the Symphony Orchestra of the Kalisz Philharmonic, under the baton of Ruben Silva, will present the world premiere of the symphony Sarmatia by Sławomir Czarnecki, composed on commission from the Kalisz Philharmonic to mark the 50th anniversary of the institution.

This premiere will be preceded by the Overture to the opera La Clemenza di Tito by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major by Ludwig van Beethoven, with the outstanding Polish pianist Łukasz Byrdy as soloist.

The symphony consists of four movements:
Maestoso. Allegretto, Lento, Andante con moto, Allegro finale.

The composer, Sławomir Czarnecki, writes the following about his work: “The symphony carries three main messages in line with the composer’s idea of reaching into ‘Polish’ themes—hence its title."

The project is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund—a state special-purpose fund—under the "Composers' Commissions" program carried out by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
