The case of the film adaptation of Władysław Reymont's Peasants, which became a Polish candidate for an Oscar, is special. The characteristic animation technique involves painting each frame of the film with oil paint on canvas, which refers to easily recognizable cultural codes, the well-known aesthetics of Young Poland painting. This is emphasized by the soundtrack, which was prepared by Lukasz L.U.C. Rostkowski and the Rebel Babel Film Orchestra. The artists, along with Sutari, Maria Pomianowska, Karolina Skrzynska and the NFM Leopoldinum Orchestra, will present it at a concert at the NFM on the 14th of January, 2024 at 7 p.m., with excerpts from this remarkable film accompanying them on screen.
Lukasz L.U.C. Rostkowski, in this project by DK Welchman and Hugh Welchman's international Rebel Babel Film Orchestra, has invited the most interesting folk music composers, creating a cross-sectional compendium of ancient Slavic music.
