On September 1, 2025, Zofia Zembrzuska will assume the position of Director of the Warsaw Philharmonic. She will become the first woman to lead this prestigious institution, succeeding Wojciech Nowak.
Following meetings with representatives of trade unions and the Artistic and Programming Council of the Warsaw Philharmonic, as well as discussions with the current director of the institution and the artistic director, Minister Hanna Wróblewska decided to appoint Zofia Zembrzuska as Director of the Warsaw Philharmonic. Her term will begin on September 1, 2025.
Zofia Zembrzuska is an experienced cultural manager, a graduate of the University of Warsaw with a degree in Cultural Studies, and of the Warsaw School of Economics, where she studied Project Management. She also completed the Józef Elsner State Secondary Music School in Warsaw (violin class).
Since 2012, she has been professionally associated with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute—initially as a project coordinator, and from 2018 as the manager of the Polska Music program. Her responsibilities included planning and co-organizing cultural events featuring world-class artists in the most prestigious concert and opera halls around the world (including the Royal Opera House, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Sir Simon Rattle, Esa-Pekka Salonen, David Pountney, and Krzysztof Penderecki).
In 2021, she became Head of the Department of Artistic Projects and Events, overseeing all of the Institute’s artistic activities. Since September 2021, she has served as Deputy Director of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR).
