Zielona Góra | Symphonic reflections: Rafał Jacek Delekta and Monika Sendrowska

November is a special time in Polish tradition. A month of reflection and remembrance. It is in this atmosphere that a unique concert will take place on the 3rd of November, 2023 at 7.00 p.m. at the Zielona Góra Philharmonic, during which an extraordinary work will be performed - Symphony No. 3 "Symphony of Sorrowful Songs" by Henryk Mikołaj Górecki.

To this day, this work, whose theme is the suffering and longing of a mother and her child, is the Polish artist's musical showcase and his most frequently performed and recorded work. The recording of the Third Symphony was published on CD for the first time by Elektra Records. The performance of the London Sinfonietta conducted by David Zinman delighted the audience and critics. Górecki, and brought recognition, fame and recognition all over the world.

Symphony will be performed by the Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra of Zielona Góra conducted by Rafał Jacek Delekta and soprano Monika Sendrowska.

Garwolin, Józefów | 'Children in the opera': micro-opera 'Silent Fish'

On the 30th of October, 2023 at 11:00 in the Sports and Culture Center in Garwolin and on the 4th of November at 12:00 pm in the Municipal Cultural Center in Józefów, thanks to the Polish Contemporary Music Society, students of local schools will go on a journey to the world of opera. Admission is free!

The meeting will begin with a "musical lesson", during which composer Jarosław Siwiński and director of plays for children Grzegorz Ociepka will tell the youngsters about, among other things, what an opera is, how it is created and who is needed to admire it on stage. This introduction will be followed by a performance of the micro-opera Silent Fish.

Los Angeles, New York | Polish Music on Stage – US Edition: Cracow Duo

PolishMusic 29 10 23On the 29th of October, 2023, a concert at the Holocaust Museum in Los Angeles will inaugurate the tour of the Cracow Duo: Kalinowski & Szlezer around the United States as part of the "Polish Music on Stage - US Edition" project. The project implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance is part of the "Inspiring Culture" programme of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.

The project popularizes and promotes Polish music in the USA, and its strategic partners are the Polish Cultural Institute in New York and the Polish Music Center in Los Angeles.

Wrocław | Wrocław Branch of the Polish Composers' Union: "Harp plus"

Harfa 30 10 23The "Harp plus" concert of the Wroclaw Branch of the Polish Composers' Union, which will take place on the 30th of October, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, will feature works for harp, violin and electronics.

The harp player Anna Scheller, violinist Adam Mokrus and composer Przemyslaw Scheller (electronics) will perform.

The programme will include compositions Insomnia by Grzegorz Pieniek for harp and violin, Tobmetzen by Katarzyna Dziewiątkowska for harp, violin and electronics, Omphalos by Grzegorz Wierzba for harp, violin and electronics, Memory Illusion by Tomasz Skweres for violin and harp and Koan II by Przemysław Scheller for violin and electronics.

Sosnowiec | A new work for two organs and orchestra - Wojciech Laskowski's Meditations premiere performance

A new work for two organs and orchestra - Wojciech Laskowski's Meditations will be performed for the first time on the 29th of October, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. in the Cathedral Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Sosnowiec. The composition, commissioned by the Maxime Association, will be premiered by organists Daniel Strządała and Jakub Plewa and the Maxime orchestra conducted by Andrzej Mandryka. Admission free.

The organ in the Sosnowiec Cathedral is unique: some of the organ pipes are located in the altar, and it is possible to play two parts of the cathedral instrument separately. Thanks to the concert and Laskowski's new composition, we will learn about the topophonic possibilities of the Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Sosnowiec: the piece was intended to be performed in this place.

The all-encompassing sound of the organ and orchestra will be enriched by the recitation of Polish poetry.

Łomża | "The Cold Bastard" - a retro show in memory of Eugeniusz Bodo

ZimnyDran 28 10 23"The Cold Bastard" - a retro show in memory of Eugeniusz Bodo, an icon of pre-war cinema and theater, a victim of Stalinism - will take place at the Witold Lutosławski Chamber Philharmonic in Łomża on the 80th anniversary of the artist's death.

On the 28th of October, 2023 at 6.30 p.m., the atmosphere of lyric poetry, sentimental memories, joy and humor, will be created together with Dariusz Wójcik by soprano Joanna Nawrot, tenor Jacek Szymański, Trio BODO, and the orchestra of the Chamber Philharmonic under the direction of Jarosław Praszczałek, as well as dancers of the Ballroom Dance Studio "TWIST" in Białystok. Free entrance!

Warsaw | "Don't be afraid to improvise!" - final concert

As part of the programme of the Polish Society of Contemporary Music "Creative Warsaw" on the 28th of October, 2023 at 5 p.m. in "Nowa Miodowa" there will be a concert summarizing the workshops "Don't be afraid to improvise!" for students of the Emil Młynarski First Degree Music School in Warsaw. Admission free!

The project was prepared by: double bassist Małgorzata Kołcz and composer and pianist Jarosław Siwiński. They have both been using their own methods in education for many years, promoting the idea of ​​teaching improvisation to the youngest, working with children in various parts of Poland. During the workshops, participants broadened their horizons, learning about an alternative to the all-encompassing mass culture and opening up to contemporary music, but also - learning mutual respect and cooperation, as well as independence in thinking and acting.

During the concert, both musical youth, who may become part of the world of contemporary music in the future, and the authors of the project will perform.

Warsaw | ĄsąBąble: family concert "Scooters"

"Scooters" is a musical and movement performative activity led by artists involved in movement, voice, composition and theater. Hashtag Lab invites you to a unique concert for families with children aged 3-7 on the 28th of October 28, 2023 at 10.00 and 12.00.

Let's allow ourselves to have fun as a family, to lie down comfortably, to sigh louder and to laugh uncontrollably. In the finale, the audience and the artists will compose and perform a song "releasing wishes" together.

The performers will be: composer Aleksandra Kaca, Marta Grzywacz (voice, improvisation), Alicja Czyczel (choreography) and the curator of the ĄsąBąble series, Anna Szawiel.

The organizers encourage you to come in clothes that will be comfortable for scooting.

Poznań | Premiere of the ballet "The Snow Queen"

On the 27th of October, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at the Stanisław Moniuszko Grand Theater in Poznań will host the premiere of the ballet "The Snow Queen" with music by Przemysław Zych and choreography by Robert Bondara.

Of the many fairy tales by Hans Christian Andersen, "The Snow Queen" is the one that can be perfectly translated into the language of dance. Mirror reflections, icy spaces, sparkling snowflakes make the characters' steps uncertain, and each of them looks for their own movement and rhythm.

Orchestra of the Grand Theater in Poznań will be conducted by Aleksander Gref.

Co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund as part of the "Composer's Commissions" programme implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
