Poznań | Premiere performance of 'Don't turn!' dyptych by Joanna Wnuk-Nazarowa

Amadeus 15.1.23 prThe Amadeus Polish Radio Chamber Orchestra invites you to the first concert in the New Year on the 15th of January, 2023 at 18.00. The premiere of the diptych for two flutes and chamber orchestra, Don't Turn! by Joanna Wnuk-Nazarowa will be performed.

The soloists will be two well-known flutists: Agata Kielar-Długosz and Łukasz Długosz. Co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund as part of the ‘Composers' Commissions’ programme implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.

After the break, the ensemble conducted by Anna Duczmal-Mróz will perform the Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor, Op. 26 by Max Bruch arranged by Agnieszka Duczmal. The solo part will be performed by the violinist Krzysztof Jakowicz. We will also hear Ernest Bloch's Concerto Grosso No. 2 B.84.

The Musicologist Section of the Polish Composers' Union invites you to participate in the 52nd Musicological Conference of the Polish Composers' Union ‘Polish Music. Tradition and modernity’, which will be held in Rzeszów-Strzyżów on September 7-9, 2023. The aim of the conference is to look again at the Polish musical tradition. To what extent are we still moved by the term ‘Polish music’ today and how do we approach native music? What is Polish music and how do we understand it today?

Katowice | Organ Inauguration vol. 2: Julian Gembalski

The second concert as part of the organ inauguration at NOSPR will take place on the 15th of January, 2023 at 12.00. Julian Gębalski, the organist, who is the author of the concept of the new instrument and acts as an expert in the entire project, will perform. During his recital, he will appear not only as a performer, but also as a composer and improviser.

He will perform his own composition Epitaph for the first time. Other works in the programme of the concert will be Johann Sebastian Bach's Prelude and Fugue in C major, BWV 547 as well as Pièce héroïque by César Franck, I Organ Sonata No. 1 in D minor by Alexandre Guilmant and Litanies JA 119 – the most famous organ work by Jehan Alain.

The Piano Competition for Children and Youth under the Honorary Patronage of Rafał Blechacz is back! The 7th edition will take place on March 25, 2023. We would like to invite young talents from all over Poland to participate!

Over the past years, nearly 200 participants have taken part in the Competition. We have had pianist from Warsaw, Gdańsk, Poznań, Jelenia Góra, Strzelin, Słupca, Koło, Lipno, Sieradz, Solec Kujawski, Cekcyn, Konin, Chełmża, Toruń, Włocławek, Gdynia, Inowrocław, Białystok, Kraków and Bydgoszcz. An opportunity to expand this list is coming soon, and you, a young pianist, can contribute to it!

Competition auditions in three age groups will be conducted only live in Nakielski Ośrodek Kultury under the supervision of a professional jury:

  • 1st group: classes I - II c.6 and class I c.4
  • 2nd group: classes III - IV c.6 and class II c.4
  • 3rd group: classes V - VI c.6 and classes III - IV c.4

Katowice | Organ Inauguration

NOSPR 13.1.23Media patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC

The inauguration of the NOSPR organs will take place on the 13th of January 13, 2023 at 19.30. That evening, the newest composition by Esa-Pekka Salonen, Concerto for organ and orchestra, will be performed for the first time, a work co-commissioned by NOSPR and its friends, the best concert halls in Europe.

The solo part will be performed by Iveta Apkalna – a charismatic Latvian organist who, as the first virtuoso of this instrument in the world, was honoured with the prestigious ECHO Klassik award.

Esa-Pekka Salonen will lead the orchestra not only in his own composition, but also in two works representing European modernism: the ballet-pantomime The Miraculous Mandarin by Béla Bartók and Symphony No. 4 by Witold Lutosławski.

Bydgoszcz | 70 years of Pomeranian Philarmonic, 100th birthday of Andrzej Szwalbe

A unique concert on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the ‘nationalization’ of the Pomeranian Philharmonic and the inauguration of the 100th anniversary of Andrzej Szwalbe's birth will take place on the 13th of January, 2023 at 19.00. Mykola Diadiura will be conducting the performance. The concert will begin with the premiere of a fanfare by Oskar Hrankowski - winner of the 1st prize in the National Competition for fanfare ‘70 years of the Pomeranian Philharmonic in Bydgoszcz’.

We will then hear Witold Lutosławski's Little Suite for symphony orchestra, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki's Symphony No. 4 "Tansman Epizody" and Piano Concerto in A minor by Ignacy Jan Paderewski, the patron of the institution. The soloist will be Jakub Kuszlik - winner of the 4th  Prize at the 18th Fryderyk Chopin International Piano Competition.

Wrocław | Happy Isles

NFM 12.1.23 prPatronat medialny nad sezonem koncertowym 2022 / 2023 NFM sprawuje Polskie Centrum Informacji Muzycznej POLMIC.

During the concert in the Chamber Hall of the National Forum of Music on the 12th of January, 2023 at 19.00 Szymon Komasa will present a wide selection of songs.

In addition, the repertoire will be enriched by works by Johannes Brahms and masterpieces of French music from the output of Claude Debussy or Erik Satie - arranged for two pianos, performed by Sophia Muñoz and Adam Kośmieja.

Komasa will perform two of Stefan Kisielewski’s song from the Seven Songs cycle: The Blind Sleepwalker's Prayer and Happy Isles Request.

We will also hear pre-war songs by Grażyna Bacewicz: Roses and Loneliness.

Toruń | 'Polish Music Scene': Katarzyna Budnik and Grzegorz Mania

ScenaMuzyki 1.23New year - new concerts as part of the "Polish Music Stage", organized by the National Institute of Music and Dance! On the 12th of January, 2023 at 6.00 p.m., the violist Katarzyna Budnik and the pianist Grzegorz Mania will perform at the Jordanki Cultural and Congress Center in Toruń.

The concert opens with a late-romantic sonata by Wojciech Gawroński. We will also hear the Sonata-Fantasia in G minor, Op. 106 by Philipp Scharwenka for viola and piano.

The programme also includes the Sonata No. 3, written by Mieczysław Wajnberg in 1945. Version of the Sonata for viola and piano was recently recorded by the duo for the first time in Poland.

‘Carols, pastorals and more...’ is the second edition of the charity carol concert, which will take place on the 8th of January, 2023 in the church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Katowice.

Young talented musicians and composers from Katowice will play for the House of Guardian Angels, which helps children and youth from poor districts of Silesia and Zagłębie.
