10th Gdańsk Contemporary Music Festival "Nowe fale"

The Jubilee 10th Edition of the Gdańsk Contemporary Music Festival "Nowe fale" will take place from November 12–17, 2024. It will provide an opportunity for creators from all over Poland, representing a wide range of styles and attitudes towards tradition, to meet and share their work. Admission is free!

World premieres are the Festival's tradition. This year, during 8 concerts, we will hear for the first time the anniversary work Exsultate, jubilate by the Festival director Andrzej Dziadek, Dwie połowy by Marek Czerniewicz, Concerto for Viola and Small Orchestra by Tadeusz Dixa, essence I/unpredictable reality by Monika Kochanowicz, Mortistango by Adam Diesner, Nocturne & Waltz by Krzysztof Steffens, Pieśń samotnego wędrowca by Natalia Górska, Bagatele by Teofil Kowalewski, Elegia and Étude pour deux by Damian Magrean, Corde di notte by Franciszek Rusek, MANE/TEKEL/FARES III by Szymon Wieczorek, ZaCzary by Poli Zduńczuk, and Solilokwium by Piotr Kasiłowski.

These works will be performed by well-known artists, including NeoQuartet, Kwartludium, Frant Duo, Marcin Tadeusz Łukaszewski, Piotr Jędrzejczyk, Krzysztof Komendarek-Tymendorf, Anna Fabrello, Ewa Marciniec, Szymon Kobyliński, accordionist Ander Tellería (Spain), and the Sinfonietta Pomerania Orchestra, conducted by Tadeusz Dixa.

The accompanying events of the Festival will include the "Młode fale" concert, performed by students and teachers from the Feliks Nowowiejski Secondary Music School in Gdańsk, the Zygmunt Noskowski Music School in Gdynia, and students of the Composition Department at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk.

The concerts will be hosted by Prof. Dr. Hab. Magdalena Dziadek, director of the Institute of Musicology at Jagiellonian University.

The festival will take place in concert halls at the Nadbałtyckie Centrum Kultury – Old Town Hall in Gdańsk, the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk, and the Feliks Nowowiejski Secondary Music School.

The Festival is organized by the Sinfonietta Pomerania Foundation.
