The 12th International Musica Electronica Nova Festival, which will take place at the National Forum of Music (NFM) from May 16 to 24, 2025, under the theme "Obecność(i)", will feature a wide range of projects from solo performances to collaborations with the orchestra and the NFM Choir.
At NFM, visitors will be able to experience the installation “Qualia” from the 21st WRO Media Art Biennale 2025, as well as a performance-installation created in collaboration with the Wro Art Center.
As part of the “Akusma Forum” series, dedicated to electroacoustic music and new discoveries on the international stage, we will explore musical panoramas from Greece, Poland, France, and Canada.
To emphasize the indispensability of human presence, two dance performances with video projections and interactive light games are planned.
The festival's special guests will include two ensembles that are part of Europe's musical elite: Black Page Orchestra from Vienna and Ensemble Vortex from Geneva. Both groups are known for their proficiency in integrating the most advanced technologies with an awareness of their fragility and transience. They will perform world premieres of works commissioned by the festival.
On May 18, the Wrocław Branch of the Polish Composers' Union will host a Concert of World Premieres: for the first time, works such as Coup de grâce by Agata Zemla, 01/03 by Katarzyna Dziewiątkowska, Muzyka jednorazowa by Adam Porębski, (...): “.!;?!/!!!-(?)” by Magdalena Gorwa, Wzgórza i doliny niesamowitości by Paweł Hendrich, and Multi-headed p-attention by Adrian Foltyn will be presented.
The concert will also feature world premieres of works by Polish composers such as Abrasion by Ewa Trębacz, Marta Śniady, Ghost-like by Monika Szpyrka, and new works composed by students from the Wrocław and Katowice Music Academies.
These unique works will stand in contrast to the constant flow of impersonal data in the global network that overwhelms us daily.
The works of Marta Śniady and Monika Szpyrka were co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund as part of the Composers’ Commissions program, implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
