"The Open Stage for New Music by Kwartludium" – a nationwide series of moderated contemporary music concerts – will take place from July 23 to December 4, 2026. The concerts will be held at the White Synagogue in Sejny, the Concert Hall of the State Music School in Bielsko-Biała, the Solvay Center for Contemporary Art in Kraków, the Jasło Centre of Culture, and the Music School in Siedlce. Admission is free.
The project by the Kwartludium New Music Foundation was born out of a need to break down barriers between new music and the general public. Its goal is to bring contemporary sounds closer to audiences, showcase their diversity and contexts, and create a space for encounters—with the music, the artists, and the concepts behind the featured works. During the moderated concerts, the musicians of this acclaimed ensemble will not only perform the pieces but also introduce listeners to the context of the works, sharing insights into the composers' inspirations, performance techniques, and the ideas driving each composition. This will be uniquely engaging given Kwartludium’s long-standing, direct collaboration with the contemporary composers.
The concert program will feature works written specifically for the ensemble by Polish and European composers representing a wide range of aesthetics and musical languages. The repertoire will include pieces by Mateusz Ryczek, Nikolet Burzyńska, and Michał Dobrzyński, among others.
The project is co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund within the "Music" program implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance
