13. The Elementi Student and Doctoral Conference: "Light"

The thirteenth edition of The Elementi Student and Doctoral Conference, organised by the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków, will take place on 12-14 March 2026. It will include a two-day academic conference, three concerts of new music, as well as lectures and meetings with invited guests.

The Elementi Student and Doctoral Conference is an annual event, which focuses on contemporary music: created, performed and interpreted here and now. The theme of the upcoming edition is "Light". Colour, brightness, brilliance, etc. in music are not obvious concepts, yet they have a significant impact on its reception. Light is an integral part of dramaturgy, influencing the way we perceive a piece of music, contributing to the meaning of the work and guiding the listener towards the message intended by the composer.

In this context, students will undertake an interpretation of contemporary music – from the 1950s onwards.
