17 concerts of the 13th Lower Silesian Music Festival, taking place from August 15 to December 14, 2025, will be held in a region affected by last year’s flood. This year’s edition is dedicated to the music of Romanticism and Late Romanticism.
“The happiness that remains to me” – this poignant line, serving as the motto of the 13th edition, is taken from Marietta’s aria in Die tote Stadt by Erich Wolfgang Korngold – one of the last great heirs of Wagner’s idea of the Gesamtkunstwerk, and a successor to the legacy of Mahler and Richard Strauss.
Following the path of arias and art songs – musical forms especially prone to existential and philosophical reflection – the organizers aim to pay tribute to Polish and European composers who, through their work, engage in a dialogue with the ideals of Romanticism. Both aesthetically and spiritually, these artists play a significant role in shaping the cultural identity of the continent.
The program will include works by Fryderyk Chopin, Karol Szymanowski, Władysław Żeleński, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Feliks Nowowiejski, and Aleksander Tansman, among others.
The concerts will take place in carefully chosen venues – spaces of high architectural, historical, and acoustic value – which themselves become participants in the musical experience.
Co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, under the “Music” program, implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance. The project is also supported by the budget of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Government.
