20 Carols in Opole Philharmonic

During the pre-Christmas concert at the Opole Philharmonic Hall, on December 20, 2024, at 7:00 PM, two musical worlds will meet – the classical genius of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the innovative imagination of Witold Lutosławski.

Mozart's Symphony in E-flat major KV 543, as Stefan Jarociński stated, is "the essence of pure happiness in music." He also pointed out that the lively Allegro "closes the symphony with accents of faith that knows no obstacles."

Lutosławski's Twenty Polish Carols for soprano, choir, and orchestra are a tribute to tradition in a modern interpretation. These arrangements were created in 1946, based on melodies and lyrics drawn from the collections of Michał Mioduszewski and Oskar Kolberg. They will be performed by the Orchestra and Choir of the Opole Philharmonic under the direction of Jakub Czerski, with the outstanding Slovak-Polish soprano Ingrida Gápová, a collaborator of the Opéra de Monte-Carlo in Monaco, as the soloist.
