21st Ada Sari International Vocal Art Competition in Nowy Sącz
59 young singers from 15 countries, including 23 representatives from Poland, will take part in one of the oldest and most prestigious vocal events in Poland. The 21st Ada Sari International Vocal Art Competition will be held from May 17 to 24, 2025. The artists will present their skills before an international jury chaired by Małgorzata Walewska, a renowned mezzo-soprano and the Artistic Director of the Competition. The auditions will take place at the venue of the event’s organizer – the Małopolska Cultural Centre SOKÓŁ in Nowy Sącz. All stages of the competition will be available to watch live.
The first round will take place on May 18–19, the second round, including the Song Competition, on May 20–21. During the final presentations and the Winners’ Concert on May 23–24, the best singers will be accompanied by the Orchestra of the Kraków Opera under the baton of Marta Kluczyńska.
All competition auditions will be broadcast live at https://adasari.pl. Additionally, the final stage of the Competition will be available on the international platform https://operavision.eu, which offers free live and on-demand streams of the most famous operas from leading stages in Europe and beyond.
The winners will receive three main prizes and special distinctions, including a special award for the performance of a Polish work.
On May 22, a special concert will be held in tribute to one of the most outstanding figures in vocal history – the Competition’s patron Jadwiga Szayer – as well as to its initiator and long-time Artistic Director, Professor Helena Łazarska.
The performers will include past laureates: Adriana Ferfecka, Aleksandra Kubas-Kruk, Gabriela Legun, and Hanna Okońska, accompanied by pianist Manfred Schiebel. The concert will be hosted by Anna Woźniakowska, and the program will feature works by Mozart, Rossini, Verdi, and Moniuszko, among others.
The Competition is held under the Honorary Patronage of Minister of Culture and National Heritage Hanna Wróblewska and Deputy Marshal of the Małopolska Region Witold Kozłowski, and is co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund – a state special-purpose fund – as part of the "Music" program, implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
