27th Portraits of Composers

Polish Composers’ Union invites the listeners to attend the concert cycle entitled „Portraits of Composers” presented this year for the 27th time. The concerts will be held at "Łowicka" Center (Łowicka 21 street, Warsaw) on December 4 and 5, 2017 at 8 p.m. The main artists of this year's edition are Carlos Malcolm and Agnieszka Stulgińska.p

The concerts will feature two premieres commissioned by the Polish Composers' Union thanks to support of PZU Foundation. Momento musical for piano for four hands (2017) by Carlos E. Malcolm is the result of composer's experience gained during his stay in Poland. It will be perdormed by the composer and pianist Kyeong-Yeon Seo.

Three women for three women and 10 instruments (2017) by Agnieszka Stulgińska is a piece about feminity, motherhood, difficult life, travelling, space, longing, intimacy, power and generations – all the things that cannot be included in the limited space and notation... A starting point for searching for the timbre was the Polish-Belarusian boarderland where composer's father was born, and a voice of an old woman, the earth. The composition will be premiered by the well-known vocalists Maniucha Bikont and Marta Grzywacz, as well as Hashtag Ensemble.

Admission to all concerts is free.

Media patronage: Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC.
