34th International Festival of Young Laureates of Music Competitions

The 34th edition of the International Festival of Young Laureates of Music Competitions combines several important themes. It is fastened with a buckle by Polish music – abundantly present in 8 of the 10 festival concerts, contemporary during the inauguration (compositions by K. Serocki and W. Lutosławski), and somewhat older, rediscovered during the finale (Mass in F major by J.M. Poniatowski).

Traditionally, laureates of prestigious competitions will perform: Michał Spisak International Music Competition in Dąbrowa Górnicza (Paulina Sochaj, Mateusz Sowa, Kayetan Cygański-Bolski), the ARD International Music Competition in Munich (Orelon Trio) or the Stage of the Young at the Polish Piano Festival in Słupsk (Piotr Orlow). The young artists will present themselves in various forms of music-making: the aforementioned Piotr Orlow and Piotr Pawlak will perform solo recitals. In solo parts accompanied by large ensembles: Piotr Gieniusz will perform with the Jerzy Semkow Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra conducted by Joanna Natalia Ślusarczyk, Wojciech Niedziółka and Krzysztof Wierciński with the ARCHETTI Chamber Orchestra under Filip Huget, and the vocalists – Aleksandra Blanik, Milena Joszko, Michał Ryguła and Martin Filipiak – supported by the forces of the Chamber Choir of the Academy of Music in Katowice conducted by Tomasz Giedwiłło.

There will be no shortage of chamber music: In addition to the aforementioned Orelon Trio, there will be performances by the Airis String Quartet accompanying the winners of the Spisak Competition and the AccoArte accordion trio; In two concerts titled ‘Festival Debuts and Jubilees’, young ensembles will meet older ones celebrating round anniversaries of artistic activity – the trio comprising Jakub Koch, Rafał Kleszcz and Jan Wilkosz will perform together with 25 years old Cracow Stroik Trio (Marek Mleczko, Roman Widaszek, Paweł Solecki), while the Aperto Quartet will meet with the Messages Quartet, was founded 10 years ago, to present separate visions in the quartet repertoire and join forces in the String Octet in E flat major by F. Mendelssohn.
