3rd Elżbieta Chojnacka Festival at the Palace in Rybna

Information about the event | Tarnowskie Góry | 20 September 2025

The 3rd Elżbieta Chojnacka Festival will take place at the Palace in Rybna (Tarnowskie Góry) from September 20–26, 2025. The event offers a unique opportunity to explore both historical and contemporary trends in harpsichord music, as well as the musical legacy of Elżbieta Chojnacka, whose passion and dedication to promoting harpsichord music continue to inspire generations of artists and listeners.

This year’s edition will feature three concerts, an exhibition titled "In the Footsteps of Wanda Landowska", and a meeting with special guest Władysław Kłosiewicz, a distinguished harpsichordist and heir to the performance tradition of Wanda Landowska.

The first chamber concert will present works by Renaissance and Baroque masters, alongside contemporary music. The world premiere of We mgle (In the Fog), Op. 86 by Tomasz Kamieniak, for violin and harpsichord, will be performed by Aleksandra Gajecka-Antosiewicz (harpsichord) and Beata Warykiewicz-Siwy (violin).

On September 21, harpsichordist Hanna Balcerzak will give a solo recital, taking the audience on a journey through 20th- and 21st-century music. Sounds of the past will intersect with jazz, minimalism, and cultural motifs from around the world. The program will include works by Marcel Chyrzyński, Philip Czapłowski, Karen Tanaka, Graham Lynch, György Ligeti, and others.

The final concert on September 26 will be performed by Władysław Kłosiewicz. The program will explore early music through the sonic possibilities of the modern harpsichord, in the context of Wanda Landowska’s performance tradition. The concert will be accompanied by a public meeting with the artist, shedding light on the history of harpsichord interpretation, current research, and initiatives aimed at preserving the cultural heritage of the great Polish artist Wanda Landowska.

The exhibition "In the Footsteps of Wanda Landowska", curated by Dr. Aleksandra Gajecka-Antosiewicz, will feature rare memorabilia of the legendary artist: photographs, letters, concert programs, and documents highlighting Elżbieta Chojnacka’s efforts to preserve Landowska’s legacy.
