Ritual, mystery, story, narration, sound and space, sound range, multimedia zone, or perhaps the easiest word to define it - stage? This year's "Warsaw Autumn" will draw the audience’s attention to literal and figurative meaning of "stage" as the 59th edition of the Festival (held in September 16-24, 2016) will focus on opera.
This "starting point", associated with theatrical context and multi-act works, will take the listeners’ through twists and turns of tradition and modernity in all variety of multimedia, paratheatrical and quasi-scenic forms, minioperas, instrumental theatre, monodrama of objectophones, and other complex and innovative (both in form and content) multimedia compositions. The programme includes the Warsaw premiere of The Magic Mountain by Paweł Mykietyn, Infinito Nero and Luci mie traditrici by Salvatore Sciarrino, Le Malentendu by Fabián Panisello (all of which will be performed twice), Silent Fish by Jarosław Siwiński (microopera for children), Aaron S by Sławomir Wojciechowski, Lost Highway by Olga Neuwirth (to the text by the Nobel Prize winner Elfriede Jelinek), Angel View by Juliana Hodkinson, Rainforests by Grażyna Pstrokońska-Nawratil, and many other works.
As always, the "Warsaw Autumn" Festival will focus on new sounds, unusual narrations, improvised stories, and strenghts and weaknesses of contemporary sonosphere, phonosphere and audiosphere.
