61st Andrzej Markowski International Festival Wratislavia Cantans

Information about the event | Wrocław | 03 September 2026

The 61st Andrzej Markowski International Festival Wratislavia Cantans will take place from 3 to 13 September 2026 in Wrocław and other cities of Lower Silesia, under the theme "The Shadow Line". Presale tickets will be available online and at the NFM box office from 17 March, starting at 11.00 am.

Similarly to last year, the title of the upcoming edition is inspired by literature. In his late novel, Joseph Conrad claimed that in every person's life, "… one perceives ahead a shadow-line warning one that the region of early youth […] must be left behind".

This year's edition will feature: Thomas Guggeis, the NFM Choir, and the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic; Giovanni Antonini with Il Giardino Armonico; Alexander Sitkovetsky, Bartłomiej Nizioł, and the NFM Leopoldinum Orchestra; Paul McCreesh with the Gabrieli Consort & Players; Ars Cantus; the Accademia Bizantina Choir and the Capella Cracoviensis Choir conducted by Ottavio Dantone; Emilio Pomarico with Ensemble Musikfabrik; Jerzy Maksymiuk, Małgorzata Podzielny, the NFM Girls' Choir, and the NFM Boys' Choir; Brezza; Andrzej Kosendiak with the Wrocław Baroque Ensemble; Les 4 Sens; Daniele Gatti and the Staatskapelle Dresden, among others.

Traditionally, the programme includes concerts for contemporary music enthusiasts. The Cologne-based Ensemble Musikfabrik will premiere a piece by Ukrainian composer Anna Korsun and perform Superheroines by Żaneta Rydzewska. Bartłomiej Nizioł and Alexander Sitkovetsky—a duo of virtuosos with contrasting musical temperaments—will perform, among other works, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki’s Sonata for Two Violins, Op. 10, as well as Andrzej Panufnik’s Landscape together with the NFM Leopoldinum Orchestra. As part of the project "10/100 – Composers' Commissions for the Centenary of Polish Radio", the vocal sextet proMODERN will premiere Noumen 5 by Aleksander Kościów. Furthermore, songs by 20th-century Polish composers will be featured in a chamber recital by baritone Andrzej Filończyk and pianist Sasha Yankevych.

The POLMIC Polish Music Information Centre is the media patron of the 2025/2026 NFM concert season.
