6th International Festival "Night of Choirs" in Ruda Śląska

On May 31, 2025, Ruda Śląska will once again transform into a grand musical stage! The sixth edition of the International Festival "Night of Choirs" will begin at 5:00 PM at John Paul II Square and conclude at 10:00 PM. This extraordinary event will once again combine art and education, bringing the community together and proving that singing is a universal language accessible to everyone.

The festival stands out with its unique „musical walk” format. Audiences will have the opportunity to move between fourteen stages scattered across the districts of Nowy Bytom and Chebzie to listen to selected ensembles. This year, 24 ensembles will perform at the festival, supported by a group of around 40 volunteers.

“Music for everyone!” – this is the event’s main motto. The organizers emphasize that singing requires neither special skills nor formal attire. Performances will take place in unusual venues for choral music, such as: the PKP train station “Library Station,” the Silesian Einfart, “Patria” Cinema, the Water Tower, the area around the Great Blast Furnace, the garden of Municipal Kindergarten No. 17, the square in front of the Silesian Impresario Theatre, the parking lot of the Music School Complex, and the Manor Park. New locations this year include the Florianka Villa, TuLisMaNore Cafe, and the “Szarotka” Family Allotment Gardens. Sacred music will be presented in St. Paul’s Church.

The ensembles will perform a cappella pieces, with a repertoire including contemporary music, sacred music, folk songs, and popular music. The program will also feature performances by children's ensembles.
This year’s edition will once again focus on active audience engagement. The Artistic Director of the Festival, Dr. Krzysztof Dudzik, will lead workshop at the Town Square, where participants will have the opportunity to learn Silesian folk songs. At the end of the festival, all attendees will join together to perform the Night of Choirs Song, specially composed for the event by the Festival’s Organizational Director – Kamil Gojowy.

A special place in this year’s edition is reserved for seniors. Dedicated choral-activation workshops have been planned especially for them. This is a unique opportunity for older individuals to actively engage in the festival’s musical atmosphere and rediscover the joy of singing together.

Another new feature will be the opportunity to take part in two cultural walks through Nowy Bytom with a guide. Participation is open and free of charge, made possible thanks to cooperation with the TuRUDA Association.

The festival is organized by the Silesian Association of Choirs and Orchestras, in cooperation with the "Chórtownia" Foundation and the "Artifices Artificibus" Association.

Honorary patrons of the event include: the Minister of Education, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Mayor of Ruda Śląska Michał Pierończyk, Members of Parliament Urszula Koszutska and Monika Rosa, Senators Halina Bieda and Gabriela Morawska-Stanecka, Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship Wojciech Saługa, and Silesian Regional Councilor Dorota Tobiszowska.

The festival is financially supported by the City of Ruda Śląska.
