8th "Music in the Blumwe Villa" Festival

The Piotr Orawski Foundation invites you to the 8th edition of the Music in the Blumwe Villa Festival, which will take place from May 18 to December 8, 2025, in Bydgoszcz, Chełmno, and Inowrocław.

Ten extraordinary concerts are organized in cooperation with Polish Radio PiK, the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music, the Rother’s Mills Science and Culture Centre in Bydgoszcz, the Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz, the Music–Education–Development Association in Chełmno, and the Pro Arte Inowrocław Music Society.

For the first time, the event will take place in two parts: a spring and an autumn edition.

All concerts will be recorded and rebroadcast on Polish Radio PiK in the program Salon klasyczny, at 9:06 p.m.

The spring edition will be inaugurated on May 18 in the historic Blumwe Villa, the seat of Polish Radio PiK. The evening will feature harpsichord music performed by Justyna Woś.

On May 21, at the Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz, Agata Schmidt (mezzo-soprano) and Bartłomiej Wezner (piano) will perform a subtle and lyrical song repertoire.

In the concert hall of the G.G. Gorczycki State Primary Music School in Chełmno, on May 22, a piano recital will be given by the outstanding Aleksandra Świgut. She will also perform works by Frédéric Chopin, Edvard Grieg, and Pavel Karmanov on May 23 at Rother’s Mills in Bydgoszcz – this time for the Bydgoszcz audience.

Polish contemporary music will be presented on May 24 at Rother’s Mills, where Katarzyna Budnik (viola) and Grzegorz Mania (piano) will perform works by Wojciech Gawroński, Mieczysław Karłowicz, Mieczysław Weinberg, and Zygmunt Stojowski.

On the following day, May 25, at Rother’s Mills, Krzysztof Herdzin will present improvisations on themes from the works of Ignacy Jan Paderewski.

The autumn edition will begin on November 30 with a concert at the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music concert hall. The program will include works by Karol Szymanowski and Witold Lutosławski, performed by the outstanding violinist Soyoung Yoon, accompanied by Marcin Sikorski on piano.

On December 1, in the concert hall of the J. Zarębski State Music School in Inowrocław, Weronika Wojtkowska (mezzo-soprano) and Natalia Jadzińska (piano) will perform.

At Polish Radio PiK in Bydgoszcz, on December 4, Magdalena Bojanowicz (cello) will give a solo recital featuring works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Mieczysław Weinberg, and Paul Hindemith.

To conclude the festival, on December 8 at the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, Paweł Zalejski, Joanna Kreft, Katarzyna Budnik, Dominik Płociński, and Bartłomiej Wezner will perform piano quintets by Ignacy Friedman and Juliusz Zarębski.

The 8th edition of the Music in the Blumwe Villa Festival is held under the honorary patronage of the Mayor of Bydgoszcz, Rafał Bruski.

The festival is co-financed by the City of Bydgoszcz, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund, as part of the Music program implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance, and from the budget of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship Government.

The festival’s patron is Yamaha Pianos.
