9. WarszeMuzik Festival

Information about the event | Warszawa | 02 August 2025

One of the most unique festivals on Poland’s cultural map — the 9th edition of WarszeMuzik — will take place from 2 to 31 August 2025.

Throughout August, on Saturdays and Sundays at 6:00 p.m., the courtyards of Warsaw’s surviving tenement houses (kamienice-ostańce) and the area surrounding the Umschlagplatz Memorial will resonate with music that tells the story of pre-war, multicultural Warsaw. All events are free of charge.

This year, open-air concerts will be held in the historic courtyards of pre-war buildings at Złota 62, Chłodna 20, and Chmielna 122. Musicians will also perform at an archaeological site at Miła 18, where the remains of a vanished city—its cellars and foundations—have been uncovered.

The festival will mark the conclusion of composer Uri Agnon’s two-year residency. His final contribution will be a sound installation for the courtyard at Złota 62, featuring the world premiere of his work Three Ghosts Stories.

As is tradition, the festival's final concert will take place at the symbolic marking of the ghetto wall beneath the Palace of Culture and Science. This year, for the first time, it will be held at the newly opened Plac Centralny (Central Square)—a space where greenery now outlines the footprints of buildings lost during the war.

This edition of WarszeMuzik will feature, for the first time, internationally acclaimed artists such as Sasha Raikhlina, Sina Kloke, Simon Oprtia, and Kenny Broberg. Among the distinguished Polish performers are Marta Wryk, Sara Dragan, Karol Marianowski, Julia Kociuban, and the young Aperto String Quartet.

Their performances will include works by Jerzy Fitelberg, Mieczysław Weinberg, Aleksander Tansman, Władysław Szpilman, Henryk Wars, Jerzy Petersburski, Artur Gold, Jan Gładysztein, and Tomasz Goliński.

The festival will also feature three historical walks through Warsaw’s former Northern District, led by expert guides and educators from the Jewish Historical Institute and the Warsaw Ghetto Museum.

Now in its ninth edition, the festival is curated by flutist Ania Karpowicz and pianist Marek Bracha.

The event is held under the honorary patronage of the Mayor of the City of Warsaw.

WarszeMuzik is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund — a state special-purpose fund — as part of the “Music” programme carried out by the National Institute of Music and Dance.

The commission of Uri Agnon’s new composition has been co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund, as part of the “Composers’ Commissions” programme, implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
