The program of the 9th Felix Mendelssohn International Chamber Music Festival in Duszniki-Zdrój will feature both 19th-century salon music and contemporary Polish chamber music. Concerts will take place from September 11 to 14, 2025, under the theme "Romantic Music Salons," and will be held at the Fryderyk Chopin Spa Theatre, the Lower Silesian Philharmonic, the Rutika Synagogue in Dzierżoniów, and Sarny Castle.
The inspiration for this year’s concert programs is Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy – the outstanding composer, chamber musician, and patron of the festival. His works will be featured in each of the main concerts, presented alongside compositions by both well-known and lesser-known Polish composers. The repertoire will include works by Fryderyk Chopin, Józef Krogulski, Józef and Antoni Nowakowski, Stanisław Moniuszko, and Irène Wieniawska aka Poldowski. The concert at the synagogue will highlight works by Polish composers of Jewish descent, including Szymon Laks, Karol Rathaus, Maria Szymanowska, and Władysław Szpilman.
Performers will include outstanding Polish and international musicians and chamber ensembles, such as violinists Jakub Jakowicz and Bartłomiej Fraś, violist Katarzyna Budnik, soprano Daria Proszek, cellists Marcin Zdunik and Krzysztof Karpeta, pianists Paweł Wakarecy and Paul Rivinius, the LutosAir Quintet, and the Lower Silesian Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra conducted by Marek Wroniszewski.
Special events are also planned: on September 13, the play Murder at the Concert, based on a libretto by Justyna Skoczek, will be staged at the Fryderyk Chopin Spa Theatre in Duszniki-Zdrój.
All concerts will be hosted by music journalist Jacek Hawryluk.
The festival is co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland from the Culture Promotion Fund – a state special purpose fund – under the "Music" program implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
