The 9th International Piano Duo Festival "Duettissimo", organized by the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music, will take place in Cracow from April 4 to 17, 2025. The program will feature star concerts (Marcus Schirmer, Guliano Adorno, Jatekok Piano Duo, Duo Mediceo, Aleami Piano Duo, Chopin Piano Duo), a scientific conference, masterclasses, and many other events.
This year's program will include works by Zygmunt Noskowski, Karol Szymanowski, Aleksander Tansman, Witold Lutosławski, Małgorzata Piechnat, Adam Walaciński, Irena Garztecka, Marta Mołodyńska-Wheeler and Hanna Kulenty.
On April 13, a special concert at the Cracow Philharmonic will be dedicated exclusively to children's piano duos.
As part of the Scientific Conference "More Music! On the Sense and Nonsense of Music Education in General Education Schools", the youngest duo of this year's festival – KoT Piano Duo: Karyna Turskaya and Maciej Kominek (prepared by Dr. Michał Dziad) – will perform on April 11.
During the final concert (April 17 in the Ballroom of the Saski Hotel), Sur van Tutti – the latest work by Hanna Kulenty for piano four hands and chamber orchestra – will be performed for the first time. The piece will be performed by Chopin Piano Duo (Anna Boczar and Bartłomiej Kominek) with the Festival Orchestra, conducted by the French conductor Marie Jacquot.
The Duo Jatekok concert on April 14 at the Cracow Philharmonic will require tickets. The concerts on April 9 and 17 will be held in the Ballroom of the Saski Hotel – free admission, entrance tickets can be collected at the Academy (Saint Tomasz 43 street, at the cloakroom). Admission to the conference and other concerts is free.
The festival is organized by the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music Foundation in Cracow, with the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Cracow as a co-organizer. The artistic director of the festival is Dr. Bartłomiej Kominek.
