Andrzej Hundziak passed away...

On August 9th in Łódź, Andrzej Hundziak passed away at the age of 98 – one of the oldest members of the Polish Composers' Union, long-time chairman of the ZKP Audit Committee. The funeral will take place on August 20th at 12:00 PM at the Doły Komunalne Cemetery on Smutna 1 Street in Łódź.

Between 1979 and 1981, Andrzej Hundziak held the position of general director of the Grand Theatre in Łódź. He also served as director of the State Primary Music School in Łódź, the Social Music Centers in Łódź, the State Elementary Music School, and the State Secondary Music School in Łódź. From 1974 to 1997, he lectured at the Academy of Music in Łódź.

He was also active as a promoter of musical life. He served as president of the Łódź Music Society and the Federation of Cultural Associations of the City Province of Łódź. He was a member of the artistic council at the Ministry of National Education.

In 1978, he organized one of the editions of the International Accordion Competition in Łódź. In 1977, he founded the National Festival of Contemporary Music for Children and Youth "Do-Re-Mi", serving as its director and artistic manager. For many years, he also sat on the jury of the National Choir Competition for Children and Youth in Bydgoszcz.

Music written for the theatre formed a rich chapter in Hundziak’s creative work (including operas, operettas, musicals, ballet shows, musical performances for children, cabarets, and music for drama theatres). The musical spectacle with his music Dziś do Ciebie przyjść nie mogę ("Today I Cannot Come to You") was premiered at the Classical Theatre in Warsaw in 1967 and was later staged in over a dozen other theatres in Poland, Europe, and the USA. Andrzej Hundziak was also regarded as one of the most important choral music composers in Poland.
