As part of the 68th "Warsaw Autumn" and the "Meetings with Composers" series, a meeting will be held at the headquarters of the Polish Composers’ Union (Warsaw, Rynek Starego Miasta 27) on September 21, 2025, at 3:00 PM, featuring a discussion of the new book Baird, published by PWM Edition (Polish Music Publishers). The book’s author, Rafał Augustyn, will speak about it in conversation with Barbara Literska. Free admission!
Who was Tadeusz Baird? What kind of music did he create, and what legacy did he leave behind? A radiographic portrait of the composer, pedagogue, and one of the founders of the "Warsaw Autumn" Festival has been crafted in the book Baird by Dr. habil. Rafał Augustyn – composer, music critic, and literary scholar. On the basis of this latest volume in PWM’s "Small Monograph" series, the author will discuss this remarkable figure.
The meeting will be moderated by Dr. habil. Barbara Literska, Professor at the University of Zielona Góra – musicologist, Chair of the Artistic Council of the Tadeusz Baird International Music Festival, expert on the composer’s oeuvre, and author of the monumental monograph Tadeusz Baird. Kompozytor, dzieło, recepcja (2012) / Tadeusz Baird. The Composer, His Work, and Its Reception (2020).
After the meeting, we invite all guests for coffee and refreshments between festival events!
Organizers: PWM Edition, Polish Composers’ Union (ZKP), Polish Music Information Centre POLMIC.
