On November 16, 2024, at 7:30 PM, a joint concert will take place at the NOSPR (Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra) featuring the City of Katowice Singers' Ensemble "Camerata Silesia," conducted by Anna Szostak, and the Nemesis Saxophone Quartet. The concert will present Estonian, Georgian, and Polish music.
The composition Aaronic Blessing by Paweł Łukaszewski, for two mixed choirs a cappella, was created in 2021 on commission from Ko Matsushita, with the text based on the Aaronic Blessing. This is the oldest preserved fragment of the Bible, containing the blessing of all twelve tribes of Israel, as reflected in the number of words in the text, excluding the name of God.
The minimalist compositions of Arvo Pärt and Giya Kancheli are imbued with reflections on the meaning of life, allowing listeners to focus on what is truly important and beautiful. We will hear Da pacem Domine for a cappella choir and Fratres by Arvo Pärt, one of his most famous works, this time arranged for saxophone quartet. The piece Amao Omi ("war of absurdities") by Giya Kancheli, for mixed choir and saxophone quartet, reflects his commitment to promoting pacifism.
