The annual contemporary music concert "Whistles – Strings – Whispers" has become a tradition at the Institute of Music, part of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Zielona Góra. On May 19, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., at the Lubusz Land Museum (15 Niepodległości Avenue, Zielona Góra), in addition to works by composers representing Zielona Góra and Poznań, the program will also feature music by composers and performers from Regensburg, interpreted by Duo Skweres. Admission is free!
The program includes solo and duo pieces for violin and cello by Katarzyna Kwiecień-Długosz (organizer of the concert series), Juliusz Karcz, Monika Kędziora, Agnieszka Zdrojek-Suchodolska, Stanisław Leśniewski, Artur Kroschel, as well as Tomasz Skweres, Daniel Toledo Guillén, and Rainer Stegmann. These works will be performed by Duo Skweres: Yui Iwata-Skweres (Japan / Austria / Germany) and Tomasz Skweres (Poland / Austria / Germany).
The concert is the result of a collaboration between the Institute of Music at the University of Zielona Góra, the Department of Composition at the I. J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań, the Polish Composers’ Union, and the Unternehmen Gegenwart Association for the Promotion of Contemporary Music in Regensburg (Germany).
The event will be hosted by Julia Kidawa, a student of the Institute of Music.
