"Christmas Tale" in Silesian Philharmonic

Silesian Philharmonic invites you to a special concert on December 22, 2024, at 17:00, which will allow you to immerse in the magical atmosphere of the upcoming Christmas. The concert, conducted by the director of the Silesian Philharmonic, Adam Wesołowski, will feature classical masterpieces, traditional Polish carols, innovative arrangements, and world premieres, creating a musical narrative full of emotions and reflection. Pianist Piotr Banasik will perform with the Silesian Chamber Orchestra.

The concert will begin with the Nocturne in F-sharp major, Op. 15 No. 2 by Frédéric Chopin, which will set a nostalgic, romantic mood.

Piano Concerto Op. 40 by Henryk Mikołaj Górecki (one of the shortest piano concertos in the history of music), and the mesmerizing Angel’s Songs by Adam Wesołowski, will also be performed.

The artists have prepared two world premieres as part of this “Christmas Tale”. The first will be Scherzo in B minor by Frédéric Chopin, where the carol Lulajże Jezuniu is quoted in the middle section, arranged for piano and chamber orchestra. The concert will conclude with the world premiere of Orawa by Wojciech Kilar, including a carol prelude.

The musical journey will be enriched with interludes and improvisations based on carol themes.
