Competition for the position of director of the National Symphony Orchestra of Polish Radio in Katowice

The Minister of Culture and National Heritage announces a competition for the position of director of the National Symphony Orchestra of Polish Radio in Katowice. The deadline for submitting documents is February 14, 2025. The completion of the competition process is expected within 90 days from the final submission date.

The requirements candidates must meet include:

- A master’s degree.

- Professional experience, including: at least 5 years of work in cultural institutions, non-governmental organizations, or entities operating in the cultural sector; at least 3 years of managerial experience in public sector organizations in the cultural field; at least 3 years of managing a team of at least 30 people.

- Proficiency in English to the extent that it enables conducting business communication within the scope of the institution's activities (fluent level).

- Knowledge of issues, problems, and regulations related to the functioning and financing of cultural institutions, including the Act on Organizing and Conducting Cultural Activities, the Public Finance Act, the Labor Code, and the Public Procurement Law.

- Health condition allowing work in a managerial position, confirmed by a candidate’s statement.

- Full public rights and full legal capacity, no criminal record for intentional crimes prosecuted publicly or intentional fiscal crimes.

- No prohibition on holding positions involving the management of public funds, as mentioned in Article 31, Paragraph 1, Point 4 of the Act of December 17, 2004, on the responsibility for violating public finance discipline, and no ongoing proceedings for violating public finance discipline.

- For foreigners or Polish citizens permanently residing abroad: proficiency in Polish, confirmed by a certificate, in accordance with the Act of October 7, 1999, on the Polish language.

Additionally, the following will be considered:

- Experience and knowledge of the specifics of working in public artistic institutions and in an international environment.

- At least 3 years of experience managing a team of at least 50 people.

- Knowledge of Polish cultural heritage, particularly the history of music, musical culture, and music in the socio-cultural context in relation to other arts.

- Education in a field related to the statutory activities of the NOSPR (completed studies in musicology, music, or other artistic fields).

- Education in management (completed studies in fields such as management, marketing, economics, administration, or law).

- Knowledge and experience in fundraising and building strategic partnerships, as well as the ability to plan actions within a budget.

- Documented experience in implementing cultural projects, both nationally and internationally.

- Artistic, academic, or journalistic achievements in a field related to the statutory activities of the NOSPR.

- The ability to critically assess various cultural phenomena, especially musical ones.

- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including communication, conflict resolution, and crisis management.

- Analytical skills, strategic thinking, and high qualifications in time management, stress management, and coping with pressure at work.

- Completed postgraduate studies, certified training, or courses in team/finance/project management or other related to organizational leadership, including conflict resolution, communication, compromise, anti-mobbing, decision-making, and others.

- Knowledge of foreign languages (besides the mandatory English) to the extent that it enables conducting business communication within the scope of the institution's activities, at least at the B2 level.

- The candidate may submit additional documents confirming their qualifications for the director position (opinions, references).

- Familiarity with the digital work environment.
