We regret to inform you that on the 11th of May, 2024, the composer and pianist Piotr Jan Ulatowski (born in Kalisz in 1958) died in Sopot. The funeral ceremony will take place on Saturday, the 1st of June at 9.00 at the Srebrzysko cemetery in Gdańsk-Wrzeszcz.
He was a graduate of the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk, where he studied music theory (diploma in 1986) and composition (1983-1985) in the class ofPprof. Ewa Synowiec. He was the winner of the 2nd prize and distinction at the Competition for Students of Composition Classes in Gdańsk in 1982, and the 2nd prize at the Composition Competition in Międzyzdroje in 1984 for a piece for a cappella choir. In 2016, his work titled "We sat quietly" with words by Ernest Bryll was awarded in Toruń during the National Theater Festival.
