Concert dedicated to the memory of Andrzej Markowski on the centenary of his birth in NFM

The Wrocław Philharmonic Orchestra concert, conducted by Maestro Jacek Kaspszyk, will take place on November 29, 2024, at 7:00 PM, and is dedicated to the memory of Andrzej Markowski on the centenary of his birth. The concert program will feature two musical realms highly valued by Markowski: the works of Karol Szymanowski and French music.

Andrzej Markowski was the founder and longtime director of the International Wratislavia Cantans Festival. He was also a recipient of the prestigious French Grand Prix du Disque Charles Cros for his recording of Vespers by Krzysztof Penderecki, and a two-time winner of the "Orfeusz" Award, granted for outstanding performances at the "Warsaw Autumn" festival.

The soloist of the evening will be Finnish violinist Elina Vähälä, who has long been a promoter of Szymanowski's music. She will perform his Violin Concerto No. 1 in Wrocław.

The program will also feature music by Jules Mouquet, Claude Debussy, and Maurice Ravel, performed by flutist Alicja Rebizant and pianist Michalina Kociołek. Their performance is part of the NFM Promotes program, which supports young artists from Lower Silesia and is organized in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the National Forum of Music.
