A unique opportunity to hear a “duel” between two orchestras and a battle of string sabers in the world premiere of Dances and Songs of the Archangels by Adam Wesołowski, composed for two string orchestras!
Capella Bydgostiensis and the Silesian Chamber Orchestra will perform at the Silesian Philharmonic on May 16, 2025, at 7:00 PM, conducted by Piotr Pławner.
The concert will open with the Waltz from Serenade, Op. 2 by Mieczysław Karłowicz, one of the most beautiful works by the young composer, paired with the Waltz from Serenade, Op. 22 by Antonín Dvořák.
Next on the program is Emanations by Krzysztof Penderecki, written for two string orchestras playing simultaneously, though not always in rhythmic unison — creating a unique acoustic effect.
The highlight of the concert will be the world premiere of a piece by Adam Wesołowski, director of the Silesian Philharmonic, written especially for these two orchestras. The composer describes his latest work as “a beautiful, melodic song for two orchestras.”
This “musical duel” will conclude on a harmonious note, as both orchestras come together to perform a masterpiece by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart — the Symphony No. 40 in G minor.
