A special concert commemorating Feliks Nowowiejski will be held on December 11, 2016 at 5.00 pm at the Adam Mickiewicz University Hall in Poznań.
2016 marks the 70th anniversary of Feliks Nowowiejski’s death. On this occasion, several institutions organize events devoted to him in order to honour the aritst as a composer, conductor, organist, pedagogue and organizer of musical life in Poland, while also using his biography as a prism focusing the complex political, historical and cultural change in Poland at the turn of the 19th and 20thcenturies.
The programme, featuring such works of Nowowiejski as Piano Concerto in D minor, Op. 60 "Slavonic" and Cello Concerto, Op. 55, will be performed by the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra under Jerzy Kosek, pianist Agnieszka Ufniarz and cellist Jan Czaja.
The concert is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
