A special concert of new music for flute and electronics will take place on October 30, 2024, at 5:00 PM in the Concert Hall of the Pleszew Music School. The soloist will be world-renowned Polish flutist Alicja Molitorys, who will present her original performance, "Next Level," for the first time in Poland, featuring Artur Zagajewski's piece Composition Arithmétique. She will also conduct workshops focused on innovative approaches to flute playing.
The evening promises to be full of musical surprises and intellectual challenges for the audience, who will be drawn into a sound world rich in emotions and innovation.
The concert will feature works inspired by nature and the virtual world, blending narrative elements with acoustic and electronic sounds, as well as experimental pieces. Notable compositions include 50 Fish by Egbert Jan Louwerse, which takes listeners into mysterious depths filled with intriguing sounds, and Mysia armia pod Kruszwicą by Grzegorz Molitorys, which narrates the legend of Popiel.
Alicja Molitorys's performance is based on Artur Zagajewski's work, inspired by the aesthetics and structure of 8-bit computer games from the 1980s. In this interactive concept, the audience will take on the role of "observer over the shoulder" of the flutist, following the progression of the piece on a large screen. The performance reflects a musical game, contrasting the sounds of the piccolo flute and tape. The artist will navigate through various "levels" or chapters of the piece: Ping Pong, Space Invaders, and Arkanoid. This multimedia performance is sure to captivate Generation Alpha and encourage exploration of contemporary music.
Alicja Molitorys is a scholarship holder of "KPO dla Kultury."
