On September 29, 2024, at 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM, the Tadeusz Baird Zielona Góra Philharmonic invites you to chamber concerts with the songs of Derwid, the pseudonym of Witold Lutosławski.
The composer likely did not want his name associated with popular music played at dance halls. His "Dance Songs" were performed by stars such as Kalina Jędrusik, Sława Przybylska, Halina Kunicka, Ludmiła Jakubczak, and Mieczysław Fogg. Two of them—"Warsaw Cab Driver" and "I Don't Expect Anyone Today"—became national hits.
On Sunday, Lutosławski's songs will be performed by Sara Lityńska, accompanied by an ensemble composed of Natalia Woźniak (viola), Bronisław Krzystek (clarinet), Dariusz Pogłud (double bass), Ryszard Zimnicki (piano), and Edward Piniuta (drums). The staging and direction for the concerts were prepared by Barbara Wiśniewska.
