DYNAMISTATICS - 58th Warsaw Autumn International Festival of Contemporary Music

Warszawska Jesień 2015

The defining term of the programme of the 58th “Warsaw Autumn” International Festival of Contemporary Music, held between 18th and 26th September 2015, is DYNAMISTATICS.

“This neologism hints at the ambiguity of the crucial musical notion of dynamics. In music, pure dynamics or statics cannot be abstracted: one seamlessly leads into the other; music can be static and dynamic at the same time,” explains Tadeusz Wielecki, Director of the Festival.

The Festival programme includes installations (Chorus by Ray Lee – hypnotic music produced by unique “musical” windmills – as well as all of Włodzimierz Kotoński’s compositions for tape, presented in the carefully arranged space of an empty historical tenement.), concerts and performances (e.g. Hans Abrahamsen’s Schnee, La Monte Young’s The Second Dream of the High-Tension Line Stepdown Transformer, Kasper T. Toeplitz’s Inoculate?, Jagoda Szmytka’s LOST, Simon Steen-Andersen’s Studies for String Instrument #1-3, and Johannes Kreidler’s Beginning lessness).

The 5th “Little Warsaw Autumn”, specially designed for children, will feature, among others, works and installations by Zygmunt Krauze, Krzysztof Penderecki and Krzysztof Knittel, presented in the Królikarnia, Zachęta Gallery and the Witold Lutosławski Polish Radio Concert Studio.
