Sinfonia Varsovia and an international consortium of orchestras and choirs, as part of the European project "Europasinfonie", announced a composition competition. Submissions of composition fragments (approx. 2 minutes) will be accepted until July 31, 2026.
The "Europasinfonie" project serves both as a powerful symbol of European unity and as a preview of a new era of artistic formats. This experimental collaboration involves twelve symphony orchestras and choirs from across Europe merging into a single ensemble, under the motto: "Twelve Countries. One Orchestra".
A key stage of this initiative is the international composition competition, which focuses on two orchestral works and one orchestral work with choir. The pieces will be broadcast live on large-format LED screens.
Composers from the 27 EU member states and other eligible countries may submit one two-minute fragment per category via the website www.europasinfonie.eu by July 31. The three winners will be awarded the opportunity to compose a 15–20 minute work for the "Europasinfonie" final concert.
Each commission includes a remuneration of €14,000 (gross).
Applications are welcome from everyone, regardless of gender, background, religion, disability, or age. However, as one of the primary goals of "Europasinfonie" is to support young artists, the organizers particularly encourage composers under the age of 35 to apply.
Artistic partners: Dresdner Sinfoniker (Germany); Athens State Orchestra (Greece); Brussels Philharmonic (Belgium); Estonian National Symphony Orchestra (Estonia); No Borders Orchestra (Serbia); Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano (Italy); Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid (Spain); Pannon Philharmonic (Hungary); Sinfonia Varsovia (Poland); Mozarteum Lab Choir Salzburg (Austria); Czech Philharmonic Choir Brno (Czech Republic); N.N.
